From classwork to learning about the terminology behind HVAC unit

The excitement of landing a new job is always uncontrollable, at least in my case.

I was lucky to land an internship job before leaving college; the same company took me in a year later.

Such placements were common in my college, and many students landed rewarding jobs after graduation. I count myself lucky because I didn’t have to start over a new company. The company culture was so welcoming and uplifting. Few can say the same for their first job. But before I really managed to fit in and earn my position as an HVAC technician, I struggled with keeping up with the terminology relating to the air conditioning system. Fresh from college and becoming a new employee at this HVAC company, time and again, I was tempted to correct my colleagues about the right use of the industry terminology. For example, hearing an HVAC professional refer to an HVAC unit as an air conditioner left me confused. I knew well that those two are commonly used interchangeably, but they don’t mean the same thing. Such a unit wouldn’t exist without ductwork, an air duct, and an ac filter to provide efficient air quality. But I got used to it with time and adjusted to fit in. However, I never used them as one and the same when addressing clients while attending to home service calls to perform HVAC maintenance. On a lighter note, ac repair is one of my favorite jobs when providing help with indoor comfort while out in the field. I get to work with different units that are hardly the same model or parts.
