Last week we experienced a devastating hurricane. We knew that the hurricane was coming and tried to prepare as much as we possibly could, but nothing would prepare us for the hurricane that was plowing towards our town. I talked with my wife about if she wanted to evacuated, we were pretty close to the beach and it could be extremely dangerous for us to stay while the storm is raging on. There could be a flash flood, a fallen tree or the roof could potentially ripped off of our house. After a long discussion we decided it would be best for us to leave and go stay with my parents for the duration of the storm. We boarded up the house and made sure everything that could be blown away was put inside. We left the house with an ominous feeling not knowing what we might come home to in a few days. After the storm passed we were anxious to get back and survey our home. To our surprise the only damage we had was to our HVAC system. The HVAC system was completed water logged and it would most likely have to be replaced. I will have to call the HVAC company to see how we should move forward, but I feel lucky that the HVAC system was the only thing in our home damaged during the terrible hurricane. Many other families lost much more than their HVAC systems and I think our insurance will cover the cost of having the HVAC system replaced, at least I hope that is the case.
