My hubby & I were super happy to purchase a historical home, however the residence was built sometime in the mid 1690s & retains multiple of the original features.
There are hardwood floors in nearly every room & gorgeous wood doors, moldings & baseboards.
The staircase is truly wonderful! We have multiple stained glass windows, high ceilings & a spacious living room. We don’t have conventional ductwork. The former owners handled temperature control with a collection of window air conditionings, box fans & electric space heaters. These units detract from aesthetics & aren’t effective. The property felt severely overheated during the Summer & horribly cold in the winter; I knew there had to be a better solution. I researched & found out about high-velocity heating & cooling. These systems are extremely innovative in that they rely on mini-ducts. The tubes are only two-inches in diameter, stretchy & designed to retrofit into older homes separate from causing harm. They snake through existing walls, accommodating plumbing pipes, studs & electrical outlets & eliminating the need for a sizable remodeling project. The actual heating & cooling device is compact enough to fit into a closet or the attic. The system delivers conditioned air into the multiple rooms of the property at such a high rate of speed that it creates a gentle suction or aspiration. The old & modern air mixes abruptly, allowing quick raising or lowering of temperature. The combination of smaller ducts, insulated ducts & shorter run times makes high-velocity systems especially energy efficient. I am just ecstatic to finally have centralized temperature control.
