Sometimes you meet people that seem to be quite intelligent, yet there are gaps in that intelligence that surprise you.
I feel that’s a genuinely polite way of saying that some people just do not seem to have any respected sense when it comes to certain things.
Take my Grandma, for example. I savor her to death, but she has lived too long on this Earth to not realize that leaving the windows open while the air conditioner is on is a exhausting thing. It’s kind of ironic, because my own mom taught me this. I feel she learned the taxing way from Grandma’s exhausting example, and grandma thought that leaving the air conditioner on while the windows were open was getting the best of both worlds. She got the nice, cool air coming from the air conditioner, even though she also had the fresh air blowing in to keep things from getting stale. She even said that it balanced things out so that the fresh air plus sun would make sure that it would not get too cold from the air conditioning system! If she wanted fresh air plus sunshine, she would have been much better off simply taking a step outside for a while, now, there are numerous reasons why this was a exhausting idea, but the main one is that her air conditioner was working harder to cool her home. That meant energy bill costs would go up. I cannot believe her mother never told her, “We’re not cooling down the whole town!” Maybe they did not have air conditioner when she was a child. I’m trying to get through to my Grandma about this air conditioner problem, but an outdated dog does not learn current tricks, plus does not want to be told how the world works!
