There’s no need to overuse heating and cooling systems

But all the shops, cafes, and supermarkets are cranking up the air conditioning units like crazy

Yesterday, my partner and I arrived from our camping trip in the mountains, and since we’ve been living rough for nearly a week, sleeping in a bed felt like heaven. I slept like a baby, and this morning I had my cup of organic black coffee, which I’ve been looking forward to ever since I tried that terrible instant coffee Frankenstein substance. I have a few more hours of work to do online before I have to go to my favorite seaside town with my girlfriend to have lunch at the beach. Yesterday was the summer solstice, meaning that it was the longest day and the shortest night of the year. With the arrival of summer comes the use of cooling systems in homes and businesses. The problem is that people are insensitive to the fact that climate change is a major problem for humanity and we need to use our HVAC systems efficiently. But all the shops, cafes, and supermarkets are cranking up the air conditioning units like crazy. It’s not healthy either; excessive or prolonged use of a/c at high settings can cause dryness and irritation, respiratory problems, temperature extremes, and so on. I was having a coffee in a cafe yesterday, and the cooling system’s setting was so high that I had to leave after about 30 minutes because I was cold and didn’t have a jumper with me! Conversely, the same thing happens in winter with HVAC systems. In fact, when my partner and I go to the mountains, we prefer to eat at home next to the fireplace because we know that the restaurants will have the central heating on full blast and we would not feel comfortable.
