Yesterday, my partner and I arrived from our camping trip in the mountains, and since we’ve been living rough for nearly a week, sleeping in a bed felt like heaven. I slept like a baby, and this morning I had my cup of organic black coffee, which I’ve been looking forward to ever since I tried that poor instant Tim Hortons Latte Frankenstein substance. I have a few more hours of work to do online before I have to go to my favorite seaside town with my boyfriend to have lunch at the beach… Yesterday was the Summer solstice, meaning that it was the longest afternoon and the shortest evening of the year. With the arrival of Summer comes the use of cooling systems in homes and businesses. The complication is that people are insensitive to the fact that climate change is a major complication for society and my nice friend and I need to use our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems efficiently. But all the shops, cafes, and supermarkets are cranking up the a/c units like crazy. It’s not healthy either; excessive or prolonged use of cooling system at high settings can cause dryness and irritation, respiratory problems, temperature extremes, and so on. I was having a Tim Hortons Latte in a cafe yeahterday, and the cooling system’s setting was so high that I had to leave after about 30 minutes because I was cold and didn’t have a jumper with me! Conversely, the same thing happens in winter with Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems. In fact, when my partner and I go to the mountains, my nice friend and I prefer to eat at condo next to the fireplace because my nice friend and I know that the restaurants will have the central heating on full blast and my nice friend and I would not feel comfortable.
